Fondazione In Between Art Film is co-commissioner of the new work. The solo exhibition at Camden will be Ashadu's first in the UK.

The film, titled I Am Hymns of the New Temples, was a commission from the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. Shawky's exhibition is part of the Venice Biennale.

The British-Nigerian artist is making her debut in Venice with the video Machine Boys, about motorcycle taxi drivers in Lagos. Ashadu previously won the Prize of the Bötterstraße in Bremen in 2022.

The nine-part series is titled Self-Portrait as a Coffee Pot. The installation, curated by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, opens in April 2024 within the framework of the Venice Biennale.

The 14th edition celebrates the 30th anniversary of The African Biennale of Photography. This call is open to artists from the African world and its diaspora, photographers and videographers.
