The organizing committee of Loop Barcelona recently announced that they have appointed Filipa Ramos to be the artistic director of Loop Festival 2025. The Portuguese curator organized the Loop Symposium 2024, Images that Move Us Forward, where speakers such as Hoor Al-Qasimi (Sharjah Art Foundation), Julian Ross (Eye Filmmuseum), Leonardo Bigazzi (Fondazione In Between Art Film), Lisa Long (Julia Stoschek Foundation), Paolo Moretti (Fondazione Prada) and others gathered to discuss the future of moving image art.
Ramos has distinguished herself as a writer, lecturer and curator whose main field of activity is researching the connections between art and ecology, also fostering relations between nature and technology. Through her curatorial and educational work, Ramos has advocated for a shift away from anthropocentric conceptions that still prevail in the arts and humanities.

Together with Edoardo Bonaspetti, Jens Hoffmann and Andrea Lissoni she co-founded the online moving image platform Vdrome, which features works by visual artists and filmmakers whose practice straddles the boundary between cinema and contemporary art. Ramos has also served as curator of the film section at Art Basel and editor-in-chief of e-flux Criticism (2013-20). She has curated exhibitions for numerous art institutions, most recently at the 60th Venice Biennale.
Established in 2003, Loop Barcelona inaugurated the first edition of Loop Festival in November 2004. Loop gathers an international community of artists, curators, gallerists, collectors and directors of institutions to work on projects aimed at exploring the vast potential of the moving image in contemporary art.
Loop Festival 2025, scheduled from November 12-22, will be presented under the title Miratges Mirages, featuring films, videos and installations that explore the relationship between cinema, imagination and perception. For more information visit the Loop Barcelona site.
