Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam, one of the most important institutions in Europe dedicated to archiving and exhibiting film, has announced the opening of Revolutions, an exhibition of the work of Garrett Bradley. For Bradley, who is best known for her feature-length film Time, which was nominated for an Academy Award in 2020, this marks her first institutional solo exhibition in Europe.

The exhibition is centered around a selection of Bradley's shorts, feature-length films and video installations. Spanning from narrative through documentary film, to more experimental and abstract forms, Bradley's work addresses themes such as race, class, familial relationships and sociopolitical histories within the United States.

The title chosen for Bradley's exhibition embodies multiple layers, indicating the various forms that revolutions manifest in her work. Referring to both a political upheaval that heralds a shift in power and the rotation of the Earth around its axis, the word “revolution” aptly describes the potential that the presentations of everyday life featured in Bradley's works have to overturn the settled order of affairs.

Garrett Bradley is a filmmaker and artist known for her aptitude in exploring the broader socio-political significance of the quotidian experiences of her subjects. She had a solo presentation at Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2022. In 2023, Bradley was awarded the Eye Art & Film Prize. She is represented by Lisson Gallery.

Revolutions is scheduled to open on June 14, 2025. For more information about this and other events at Eye Filmmuseum, check their site.
